NFC Business Card Buying Checklist: 12 Things to Compare
By the Smart Visiting Card team · Updated 2026-10-27
Draft for editorial review: facts in [brackets] need confirming before launch.
Short answer: NFC business card prices in Pakistan range from a few hundred rupees for a blank tag to several thousand for a designed metal card. The price difference usually comes down to whether you get a finished, programmed and tested card with a profile, or just a chip. Use the 12 checks below to compare any two offers fairly, including ours.
The checklist
1. Is it a finished card or a blank tag?
Marketplace listings at Rs 400–800 are often blank NFC cards that you program yourself with a phone app, with no design and no profile. That suits hobby use. For a business card, check that the price includes printing, programming and a profile.
2. Which chip is inside?
Look for a named chip such as NXP NTAG213, NTAG215 or NTAG216. For a single profile link, any of the three works. NTAG215 and 216 have more memory. Be wary of listings that don't name the chip at all.
3. Is there a QR code backup?
Many phones sold in Pakistan, especially budget models, have no NFC. A QR code on the card opens the same profile, so nobody is left out.
4. What does the profile include, and for how long?
This is the most important hidden cost. Ask: - Is the digital profile included, and for how long? - What does renewal cost after that? - What happens to the card if you don't renew?
Our business cards include profile updates for 2 years from activation. Ask any seller for their equivalent in writing.
5. Can you edit your own details?
You should be able to change your number, title or links without a new card. Check whether you can edit the profile yourself or have to message the seller.
6. Is every card tested before dispatch?
A card that arrives unprogrammed or with a typo in the link costs you a week. Ask whether each card is test-tapped on a phone before it ships.
7. Do you approve a design proof first?
A good seller sends a mockup and prints nothing until you approve it. That matters most for metal cards and team orders.
8. Does the material suit how you'll use it?
| Material | Strengths | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| PVC | Full-colour printing, light, most affordable | Looks like a standard plastic card |
| Metal | Premium weight and finish | The NFC side must be non-metal (usually a PVC back); fewer print colours on the metal |
| Wood | Distinctive, warm | Usually one-colour print; wood tone varies |
9. Which side do you tap on a metal card?
Metal blocks NFC. A genuine metal NFC card puts the chip behind a non-metal layer and tells you which side to tap. If a seller says you can tap the solid metal face, ask how.
10. What happens if it doesn't work?
Look for a clear policy, such as a free reprogram or replacement within a set number of days. Ours is 7 days from delivery for cards that don't work on arrival.
11. Total cost, including delivery
Compare the delivered price: card + design + delivery + any profile fee. A "free delivery" card with an annual profile fee can cost more over two years than a card with flat delivery and two years included.
12. Can you reach a real person?
Check for a physical address, a working WhatsApp number and published policies. Before paying, send a WhatsApp question and see how quickly and clearly you get an answer.

Mistakes we see buyers make
- Choosing on card price alone, then paying for profile renewal every year
- Ordering metal with a full-colour photo design that only works on PVC
- Putting every detail on the card: the profile is where details belong, and they change
- Ordering a team's cards without checking spellings in one list first
- Buying a review card from a seller who promises "5-star reviews": no product can guarantee that, and incentivised reviews break Google's rules
